Brazos High School Debaters Claim Victory at El Campo Senior CX Debate Tournament

In a fiercely competitive atmosphere, Alex Taylor and Fabian Castillo showcased their exceptional skills, tenacity, and dedication to clinch the championship title. Their outstanding performance is a testament to their hard work and the rigorous training they have received.

For those unfamiliar with CX Debate, it is short for Cross-Examination Debate.  It is a challenging and intellectually stimulating form of debate commonly conducted at high school and college levels. In this format, two teams, each comprised of two debaters, engage in a structured debate centered around a policy or resolution. One team argues in favor of the resolution, while the other takes the opposing stance.

The debates involve a series of speeches and cross-examinations where debaters present their arguments, question their opponents, and counter opposing claims with well-researched evidence. CX debate tournaments tackle topics of current policy relevance, requiring participants to engage in thorough research and articulate their positions effectively.

Participating in the CX Debate at the Senior level not only hones critical thinking and public speaking skills but also encourages students to delve deep into real-world policy issues.
