The Austin County Fair Association was well-represented at the Texas Association of Fairs & Events Convention and took home several awards for excellence in marketing and communications. The fair, which promotes the agricultural lifestyle and attracts around 24,000 visitors to the fairgrounds each year, will be held from October 6th to 15th in 2023. The Sealy Tiger varsity soccer team secured a 4-1 victory against the Livingston Lions at the Huffman Hargrave tournament on Thursday. Sophomore Israel Santos led the way with three goals, while senior D’vonne Hmielewski and senior Tanner Ellis contributed with one goal and assists respectively. The team looks to continue their winning streak as they face off against the 1-4 Silsbee Tigers on Friday and East Chambers Buccaneers on Saturday.

The Brazos Cougars Boys Varsity Basketball defeated the Hempstead Bobcats 66-43 in an away conference game on Tuesday, bringing their overall record to 10-7 and district record to 4-0. The team’s strong performance has them ranked 886th in Texas and 107th in their state division. The Cougars will look to continue their winning ways in their next game against Hitchcock on January 17th.
