The citizens of Wallis heard more about the housing facility for unaccompanied [immigrant] children that is being put in place on Hwy 60 in Wallis, TX. The facility is due to open the second week in November according to Wallis Police Chief David Moseley. The community as a whole is concerned over its opening as there are many unanswered questions about safety and impact on the community.

The Austin County Commissioners Court took the first steps this morning to transfer ownership of the old county jail in Sealy, located at 240 Main Street, to the Sealy Area Historical Society. The historical society plans to renovate the building and turn it into a museum.
