The new Sealy ER is now open for business.  The first free standing, 24-hour emergency room located at 1036 N Circle Dr. in Sealy, Texas is open to both pediatric and adult patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The new ER has state-of-the-art equipment, including its own radiology department, complete laboratory, examination rooms and a trauma room for the most life threatening situations.

A closer look at the equipment reveals just how state-of-the-art it is.  The U-Arm X-Ray Machine allows for patients to be x-rayed while standing or in a wheelchair.  And for those patients that are immobile, say in cases of emergency, the machine is able to x-ray the patient right on the movable bed ensuring that unnecessary movement is kept to a minimum.

The ER’s Cat Scan Machine is also state of the art allowing for instantaneous imaging of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels which typically provide a greater detail image than traditional x-rays, particularly of soft tissues and blood vessels and having it on site make the Sealy ER that much more ready to attend to the areas needs.

One of the ER physicians, Dr. Marcus Sims, told us more about the ER and what he hoped to be able to bring to the community.  “I hope to be able to bring the kind of care patients would expect in the medical center out here to Sealy.  What we’re bringing to Sealy Emergency Room, we have 24 hour Cat Scan, we have 24 hour x-ray, we have in house laboratory, we have ultrasound that we can call in, anything you would expect to get in an emergency department is present in the Sealy Emergency Department as a free standing emergency department.  The majority of our doctors are doctors that are coming in from Houston, coming out here.  Most of them have experience working in the Texas Medical Center and they’re coming out here to practice also and see it as a unique opportunity.  We hope to prevent the patients in Sealy from having to make the drive into Katy, making the drive into Houston if there’s something we can treat here.  However, if it is more serious we have the capability of diagnosing things as heart attack, strokes, appendicitis.  We can handle abdominal pain and if it needs to get them to a hospital, we can get them to a hospital via ambulance.  The quicker they (the patient) present for their medical emergency, the quicker we can start treatment.  We can go ahead and start, if they’re having a heart attack, we can go ahead and get that diagnosed here, we can start treatment here and be in communication with cardiologists in Houston or in Katy right away and we can expedite the treatment.

Although it is a separate entity, the Sealy ER is connected to the Medical Clinics of Sealy building and both are a welcome addition to the City of Sealy.
