Austin County has issued a “Declaration of Disaster” banning certain types of fireworks. This is due to the dry conditions that have resulted from long term drought that is affecting Texas. The ban goes into effect at 5pm today. The ban includes bottle rockets, rockets with fins and roman candles. It does NOT ban artillery shells or multi-shots.
The Sealy Farmers Market’s inaugural event happened on June 18, 2022 from 9 am to noon at Downtown Sealy Main Street. The event is going to be an ongoing feature on Sealy Main Street’s calendar happening every 3rd Saturday of the month.
The City of Sealy put out the notice on their social media profile that they will begin spraying for mosquitos beginning next week and continuing every two week until the end of September between the hours of midnight and 5:00 am.
The Sealy Fire Department welcomed their newest addition to their crew, Caleb Weaver.
On May 27th 2022 a little before 9:15 a.m., a fire broke out at Knesek Brothers Funeral Home located at 1140 Meyer St in Sealy. The fire caused heavy damage and was finally brought under control and extinguished by a multi-department effort.
The Sealy ISD posted a message for students, teachers and the community warning of “increased law enforcement presence” after the tragedy that happened in Uvalde, TX.
The City of Sealy discussed the possibility of adopting a master fee schedule for the city. The master fee schedule is in an effort to begin to collect a lot of fees that have been missed by the city as well as offset a lot of expenses that the city has been absorbing that should be passed on to developers as well as individuals that utilize city services.
