The Austin County Sheriff’s Department issued the following press release concerning Bellville Municipal Court Judge Terri Resendez.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

An Austin County Grand Jury indicted former Bellville Municipal Court Judge Terri Resendez on February 28, 2018 for Theft of Property ($30,000.00 to $150,000.00) and Tampering with a Governmental Record.

Both charges are second degree felonies punishable by two to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000.00 fine.

Resendez, 59, was arrested for the indictment by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office on March 2, 2018, and she posted a $20,000.00 bond.

Resendez is accused of stealing funds from 2013 to 2016 from the City of Bellville during her tenure as Bellville Municipal Judge.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office is assisting the Bellville Police Department and the Austin County District Attorney’s Office with the investigation and prosecution.
After being notified of the discrepancies, District Attorney Travis Koehn requested the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office.

“The Texas Attorney General’s Office has a division dedicated investigating white collar crimes committed by governmental officials,” Travis Koehn stated.

“We’re grateful for their expertise and help in developing the evidence necessary to proceed in this matter,” Koehn said.
