PARIS, Texas — The Blinn College men’s soccer team defeated Paris Junior College, 3-0, on the road Tuesday.
With the win, the Buccaneers are now 4-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
“It was our first clean sheet of the season and it was a long time coming, so we had a much better defensive performance,” head coach Michael McBride said. “A 3-0 away win is tremendous, and the team is getting better each game, which is really good to see. We have so many good players who can create chances and it doesn’t surprise me we had multiple players score.”
Diego Berlingeri recorded his first shutout of the season with one save.
Brook Williams, Cesar Cabrera, and Dave Danielles each scored one goal for the Buccaneers, while Stefan Fevrier Sildor led Blinn with two assists and Alex Ramirez had one. In addition, Cabrera and Marco Rodriguez Jr. led the Buccaneers with three shots on goal each.
In the 27th minute, Ramirez assisted Williams in scoring the first goal and the Buccaneers held the 1-0 lead at halftime.
Fevrier Sildor assisted Cabrera in scoring Blinn’s second goal in the 53rd minute and assisted Danielles in scoring the Buccaneers’ third goal in the 83rd minute.
Next, the Buccaneers will take on Northeast Texas Community College on Friday, April 30, at 4 p.m. on the road.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
