Blinn College men’s golfer Jerrion Dukes (Houston) recently signed with Texas Southern University to continue his academic and athletic career after leading the Buccaneers during their inaugural season.
“Jerrion was a key member of our first golf team here at Blinn and he was always pushing himself and others to get better,” said David Johnson, Blinn head coach. “He had the ability to shoot some really low scores and was passionate about the game of golf and loved working at it. As a coach, when you have to tell your player to go home from practice, you know you have the right guy.”
Dukes, a sophomore, had the lowest scoring average on the team and placed in the top-20 in five tournaments during the 2019-20 season. He led Blinn with a seventh-place individual finish in the University of Houston-Victoria Claude Jacobs Invitational. The men’s golf team was ranked 16th in the nation when the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Prior to Blinn, Dukes spent one season at Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Southwestern Athletic Conference team championship.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
