The showers Austin County mercifully received earlier last week were enough to push us into the green zone for the purposes of burning in the county. ย County Judge Tim Lapham did state that the next 14 days were questionable as to how long the ban would stay off. ย However, Commissioner Reichardt stated he was hesitant to take it off but, at the same time had been receiving calls from residents wanting to know if it was safe to burn. ย The general consensus was to give the county the remaining week, maybe two to do their burning before putting the burn ban back in place on Austin County.
