he Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the webinar “Wildfire and Prescribed Fire on Your Property” on Nov. 2 from noon to 1 p.m. The webinar will cover how to prevent and prepare for wildfires.
The webinar is part of the ongoing Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management Stewardship Series.
The cost is $35, and advance registration is required at https://tx.ag/RWFMStewardshipWebinars.
After payment is received, a follow-up email will be sent from the event organizer with instructions on how to access the webinar.
“As our knowledge and awareness of fire in native landscapes increases, so must our diligence and dedication to proactive responses,” said Morgan Treadwell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist, San Angelo. Treadwell is a series co-creator, along with Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation program specialist, Bryan-College Station.

Todd Nightingale, Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute project manager, San Antonio, will be the featured speaker and will discuss activities landowners can implement to prevent and prepare for a wildfire on their property. Nightingale spent 24 years as a professional forester and wildland firefighter with the Texas A&M Forest Service as a district forester and assistant chief regional fire coordinator before joining the Natural Resources Institute.
“Mr. Nightingale has an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience in dealing with both kinds of fires,” Treadwell said. “More importantly, he also understands the importance of equipping landowners and managers with the information they need to make the best natural resources decisions for their unique operational goals and objectives.”
Nightingale supports the Private Land Stewardship and Military Land Sustainability Programs within the Natural Resources Institute and provides additional specialized support to the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management.

“Learning about the emergency response and unified command process as a landowner is necessary for successful management of the fire and post-fire natural resource rehabilitation. Even more important is understanding the how, why, when and where of prescribed fire to proactively manage excessive fuel loads and mitigate the risk of unintended wildfire ignitions.”
