Blinn College volleyball just capped off their second consecutive national championship and now three players from that team have been named National Junior College all-Americans.

Rebecca Reeve was named to the all-American first team while Trinity Alualu and Jordyn Keamo were both named to the second team in the top individual honor in volleyball.

“I am very proud of all of them for this honor,” said head volleyball coach Erin Mellinger. “Having two sophomores and a freshman be all-Americans is great.”

Too Much StuffReeve was conference and national tournament most valuable player so it was only fitting that she was named to the first team all-Americans.

“Obviously, she (Reeve) performed extremely well at nationals and helped the team immensely,” Mellinger said.

Throughout the season, Reeve hit for a .293 percentage while tallying 375 kills in 41 matches.

“I was surprised and shocked and it was just a lot of emotions when I found out,” Reeve said. “Honestly, I wasn’t looking for individual goals but team goals and playing my best for the team.”

Both Alualu and Keamo were named to the second team and both them contributed a lot to the team’s success. Both Alualu and Reeve were six rotation players for the last two years and Keamo was the player setting up the kills all season.

Alualu was able to hit for a .266 percentage with 315 kills in 38 matches with 51 aces. Alualu, Reeve and the other sophomores on the team combined for two national championships and a 79-4 record in their two years at Blinn College.

“Throughout the summer I was just working hard so I could do my best,” Alualu said.

For Keamo, she had to make the perfect passes to set up her teammates and she did that with enough ability to be named an all-American. Keamo earned 1,015 assists in 41 matches. Keamo said that she was shocked to be named an all-American but happy at the same time.

“She (Keamo) completely ran the offense and carried that load,” Mellinger said. “She made great decisions out there on the court.”

The volleyball team will be honored for its national championship season before the men’s basketball game on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
