Only July 19th we reported that a bomb threat had been made to an employee working at the Dollar General in Bellville, TX. An arrest has now been made in connection with that bomb threat. 25 year old Jamie Lynn Rooker of Sealy, was arrested and charged with making a False Alarm or Report.
Local authorities, as well as Fire and E.M.S. personnel had responded to to the Dollar General after it was reported that a caller had stated that a bomb was in a trash can within the store. The store was evacuated and a perimeter was set around the store to ensure safety. Bellville Police then carefully searched each trash can and scanned the store, but no explosive devices were located and the scene was released back to the store employees after several hours. Lt. Jason Smalley, with the Bellville Police Department, said “the preliminary investigation led us to a nearby residence that matched a cell number that the alleged bomb threat had been called in from.” Lt. Smalley also stated that “after further investigation, our attention quickly turned to Rooker as a possible suspect”. Rooker is also an employee of the Dollar General store, and was working at the store the night of the bomb threat. Lt. Smalley further added “Rooker later told us that she had falsified the entire bomb threat because she was upset with a subject who had called the store earlier, and who’s phone number was listed on the store’s caller ID”. Lt. Smalley went on to say that “we initially felt that the threat was bogus, however, in light of recent events that have taken place across the country, you have to take any and every threat situation very seriously”. Lt. Smalley concluded “I have to admit, it crossed our minds that we might be walking into a trap, but fortunately, that wasn’t the case”. Rooker was booked into the Austin County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
