Houston, TX – The 12U South Texas Slammers volleyball club won their second tournament of the season on Saturday (January 23) by defeating Spike Sports 12U National team 25-18 in the title match. Shop Austin County 300 x 600 Second TryIn the final game, and throughout the tournament, strong serving helped the Slammers rally to an early lead and keep their opponent in check with solid defense.
On the road to the finals, the Slammers leveraged their top seed out of 21 teams and straight set wins over Sandshark Attack 12U (25-16 and 25-11) and Texas One 12U (25-15 and 25-13) to earn a first-round bye for bracket play. In the semi-final game, the Slammers defeated Resilient Dynamite 12U 25-20 in a back and forth battle.
Coach Kieler highlighted the keys to the Slammers success this season, β€œThe team is playing with focus, maintaining a positive attitude, working as a team, and continuing to improve tournament to tournament.”
The Slammers now turn their attention to the Wimberley tournament on February 14.
