A late sports submission to us from February but, still worth letting the community know about it! Congratulations to these wonderful young athletes!
Wimberley, TX – The 12U South Texas Slammers volleyball club posted a perfect 5-0 record at the Wimberley Showdown on Sunday (February 14) and earned their third tournament win this season.
In the single round-robin tournament format, the Slammers faced volleyball clubs from across central Texas including Austin, Hugelland, Seguin, Waco, and Wimberley.
After straight-set wins over the Texas Tigers from Seguin 21-13, 21-6 and Austin Performance Volleyball 21-18, 21-12, the Slammers met the tournament host, Wimberley Athletic Club. In a hard fought first set, a late rally by the Slammers forced sudden death and eventually a 23-21 win. The momentum continued into the second set with a 21-12 win and 3-0 record going into the break.
In the final two matches of the day, the Slammers topped the Texas Legends from Waco 21-7, 21-5 and Hugelland Volleyball Club 21-11, 21-6.
Coach Kieler commented after the tournament, “I am very proud of my girls today. They played with dignity and class.”
