TEMPLE, Texas – Blinn College volleyball opened the season with a 3-0 sweep Tuesday night over Temple College by the scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13.
The Buccaneers and Leopards played a close first set, but it was Blinn that prevailed with a 25-21 victory and kept the momentum going to ensure the sweep.
“I thought that we got better as the match went on,” said Kalie Mader, Blinn head coach. “Set three was by far our cleanest set.”
The Buccaneers totaled 26 kills against Temple as Paola Maria Salas Adorno led with eight. Kayla Valigura, Claire Chapman and Amina Olajuwon followed with five kills each.
“Temple was a great match to play,” Mader said. “They were very scrappy and played hard.”
Blinn will compete in the Midland Tournament on Aug. 25-26.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
