Wanted: A Leader Worth Following

Operator Manager & Lead Setup

Mark's Machine Co., Inc. – El Campo, Texas

This is not a position for someone seeking an easy living.

The machines will not wait. Orders will not slow. Problems will arrive uninvited, often before sunrise, and rarely at convenient hours.
We seek a person who finds purpose in responsibility, who sees disorder as an invitation to bring order, and who earns respect not by title, but by example.
Your crew will look to you when the schedule slips, when a setup goes wrong, when a tool breaks, when quality is questioned, and when everyone else is looking for someone to make the next decision.
If that sounds like a burden, this is not your place.
If it sounds like your calling, keep reading.
The Mission
Lead the daily machining operations of our shop with precision, discipline, and unwavering commitment.
You will not spend your days behind a desk. You will be on the floor—planning, preparing, teaching, solving, inspecting, and ensuring every operator has what they need before the first machine starts cutting.
Success will be measured not by how busy you appear, but by how smoothly the entire operation runs because you were prepared before anyone else realized preparation was needed.
Your Responsibilities
You will:

· Lead a team of machinists by example—not from behind an office door.

· Build work schedules and assign responsibilities that maximize production.

· Prepare fixtures, tooling, materials, and setups before they become emergencies.

· Teach operators how every programmed job should be run safely and efficiently.

· Verify quality before defects become expensive lessons.

· Coordinate purchasing requirements with management.

· Remove obstacles so the crew can focus on producing exceptional work.

· Maintain standards even when deadlines grow difficult.

Who You Are
You have spent years earning your knowledge—not simply collecting them.
You understand machining because you have lived it.

You remain calm while others become frustrated.
You notice details others overlook.
You can change direction without losing your composure.
You know that leadership means taking responsibility long before taking credit.

What It Takes

· Ten or more years leading manufacturing operations.

· Experience supervising teams of fifteen or more skilled people.

· Sound judgment under pressure.

· The ability to teach, coach, and develop others.

· A relentless commitment to quality.

· Strong mechanical understanding and practical problem-solving ability.

· The humility to keep learning and the confidence to make difficult decisions.

The Standards
We value people who are:

· Dependable when everyone else is unavailable.

· Precise when shortcuts seem tempting.

· Calm when circumstances become chaotic.

· Accountable when mistakes occur.

· Courageous enough to make decisions.

· Honest enough to admit when a better idea exists.

The Reality
This is full-time work.
Some mornings begin before sunrise.
Some evenings end after others have gone home.
Saturdays occasionally belong to the company.
When the team needs help, you answer.
Because leaders do not watch the storm from shelter—they walk into it first.
The Reward
You will not simply supervise production.
You will build a team that trusts you.
You will shape the quality of every product that leaves our doors.
You will earn the respect that comes only from solving difficult problems alongside people who depend on you.

If you seek comfort, there are easier jobs.
If you seek purpose, responsibility, and the satisfaction of leading skilled people to accomplish extraordinary work—

Mark's Machine Co. is ready to meet you.
