Description
Sealy ISD is seeking bus drivers and substitute bus drivers to provide safe, orderly transportation for students and other authorized passengers. These roles report to the Director of Transportation.
What you'll do
- Drive assigned routes and extracurricular trips, following schedules and adjusting for traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, report needed repairs, and keep the bus clean and adequately fueled.
- Teach passenger safety rules, supervise boarding and street crossings, manage student behavior, and conduct emergency evacuations when needed.
- Follow traffic laws and district safety procedures, maintain emergency equipment, and report accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions.
- Use two-way radio equipment and maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and passengers transported.
What you'll bring
- Must be at least 18 with a clear, valid Texas commercial driver's license and Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Must pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and an annual physical examination.
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training, maintain safety certification, and operate a bus; no experience required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, use maps and GPS, manage student behavior, and communicate effectively.
- Work involves prolonged sitting and driving, frequent standing and stair climbing, and daily lifting and carrying of less than 15 pounds.
- Must work irregular hours and occasionally prolonged hours, tolerate temperature extremes and vehicle fumes, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Pay: $20.25–$24.50
