The Horticulture Committee of Austin County, in collaboration with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County, is set to host the upcoming Fall Horticulture Seminar. The event will take place on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the American Legion Post #442, located at 1630 Meyer Street in Sealy.
Registration for the program will begin at 12:30 PM, with the first presentation scheduled to start at 1 PM. This seminar aims to educate local gardening enthusiasts and professionals on various horticultural practices and techniques suited for the region’s climate and soil conditions.
The seminar will feature several experts in the field, including Stephan Janak, an Extension Program Specialist, who will discuss the “Planting & Maintenance of Fruit & Citrus Trees.” Dr. Joe Masabni, another Extension Program Specialist, will shed light on the differences between Hydroponics, Aquaponics, and Aeroponics, explaining their applications and benefits. Furthermore, Henry Flowers of Glasco & Co. Landscaping, Inc., will cover “Gardening in Extreme Weather Conditions,” offering insights into how to protect and nurture plants in unpredictable climates.
The event fee is $20 per individual or $35 per couple. Attendees who purchase a tree from the Bluebonnet Master Gardener Fruit & Citrus Tree sale, which starts at 11 AM at the same location, will receive a $5 discount on the seminar fee. The tree sale will continue until all items are sold.
