Austin County EMS is teaming up with nationally recognized ECG and STEMI expert Tim Phalen to offer a powerful training opportunity for area first responders. The โ€œ12/15 Lead ECG Class,โ€ hosted in partnership with Stryker, is designed to deepen participantsโ€™ understanding of advanced cardiac monitoring and field application of life-saving diagnostic tools.

Course Overview
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in interpreting 12- and 15-lead ECGs, recognizing ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI)โ€”a type of heart attack caused by a blockage that restricts blood flow to the heartโ€”and effectively using capnography, a non-invasive tool that measures carbon dioxide in exhaled air to help assess breathing and detect respiratory or cardiac issues in real time. These critical skills can significantly improve patient outcomes during cardiac emergencies and respiratory distress.

Two Training Options Available
To accommodate busy EMS schedules, the course is being offered on two separate days:
โ€ข Monday, August 4th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: 939 Tiger Ln, Sealy, TX 77474
โ€ข Tuesday, August 5th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: 12440 Eagle Pointe Dr, Mont Belvieu, TX 77523
Both sessions will be led by Tim Phalen himself, whose extensive experience and engaging teaching style have made him a leading authority in the field of ECG and STEMI training.

CE Credits and Networking
First responders will have the opportunity to earn continuing education (CE) credits. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at each session, offering a great chance to network with EMS professionals from across the region. You do not need to be currently employed as a paramedic to attend, and there is no cost to participate.
