The New Ulm Texas Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to celebrate Independence Day with its annual Fourth of July Parade and Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
This year’s event carries added significance as the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, making the celebration part of the nationwide America 250 observance.
Organizers have announced a new parade route for 2026. The parade will both begin and end at St. John Lutheran Church, creating a loop through downtown New Ulm and passing several local businesses and landmarks along the way.
Participants should begin lining up at 10 a.m., with the parade kicking off at 10:30 a.m. Community members are encouraged to decorate vehicles, golf carts, tractors, bicycles and floats in patriotic red, white and blue as they join the festivities.
The route will travel through the heart of New Ulm, giving spectators multiple opportunities to watch the parade and support local businesses. Along the route are several Chamber member businesses, including The Vault TX, Douglas Tree Service, 4M Farm & Feed, LLC, Texas Star Cafe and You Got This: Fitness & Personal Training.
Following the parade, everyone is invited to remain on the church grounds for a community gathering featuring free hot dogs, cold drinks and New Ulm’s popular water pistol competition, a tradition that has become a favorite for both children and adults.
The event is open to the public and offers a family-friendly way to celebrate the holiday while connecting with neighbors and visitors from across the area. With many communities scaling back local celebrations in recent years, events such as the New Ulm parade continue to provide an opportunity to preserve small-town traditions and community spirit.
Residents planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early, bring lawn chairs, and prepare for warm July weather. Spectators should also be mindful of parade traffic and road closures in the downtown area during the event.
