Construction on the new Wallis, Texas Emergency Medical Services (EMS) station began this morning with the pouring of the slab at 6512 Guyler Street. This exciting development represents a major step forward for the community, as the new station will provide a modern and comfortable home for the dedicated EMS crews who serve the area.

According to Kenney Burns of Burns Architecture from an interview given at the original groundbreaking on September 17, 2022, the building will take 12 months to construct from start to finish. The finished building will be able to house 2 full crews as well as a supervisor, providing the crews with much-needed space and a sense of home. The station will feature individual bedrooms for the EMS personnel, as well as office space that is integrated into the bedrooms, allowing the crews to work and study comfortably.

The new station will also feature a modern kitchen and charting area, further adding to the comfort and functionality of the space. Prior to the construction of this new building, the EMS crews are currently housed in a leased building from the Brazos Independent School District, which was not designed for their specific needs. This new station represents a significant upgrade for the personnel and the community they serve.

The construction of this new station is a clear indication of the commitment of Austin County to the well-being and safety of its residents. The new building will not only provide a comfortable and modern home for the EMS crews, but it will also help to improve the overall level of emergency medical services provided in the area.

The pouring of the slab marks the start of a 12-month journey toward a new, state-of-the-art facility that will greatly benefit the Wallis community. The community is looking forward to the completion of this project and to the improved emergency medical services that it will bring.
