The Buccaneers dropped to 9-10 overall and 2-6 in region play, while Coastal Bend jumped to 4-13 and 1-7.
Blinn held a 37-27 halftime advantage.
“I thought we played really hard,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “Going down the stretch, things just didn’t go our way. With 3.8 seconds left, we had a 3-point shot at the buzzer, but it just didn’t go in.”
Leading the way for the Buccaneers were freshmen guard Maurice Pinnock and center Alex Tysnkevich, who scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Blinn returns home for a region matchup against Victoria College at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
