The Bill of Rights transformed the Constitution from one of supreme and total national power to a partially mixed polity where the liberal antinationalists at least had a fighting chance.

When people hear the word “fascism” they naturally think of its ugly racism and anti-Semitism as practiced by the totalitarian regimes of Mussolini and Hitler. But there was also an economic policy component of fascism, known as “corporatism,” that was an essential ingredient of economic totalitarianism. In the United States the word fascism may no longer be politically acceptable, but its synonym “industrial policy” is as popular as ever.

There is nothing new about lawmakers seeking to implement new programs at taxpayers’ expense. What is new is how open supporters of this effort have been about the fact that they are attempting to do this by changing the politically understood definition of the word “infrastructure” into a radical reimagining of what the word means.

The sign of a healthy society is one where private property is respected, and not just the private property of large corporations or the politically connected, but that of everyday business owners and citizens. Unfortunately, the legacy media and ruling class don’t share this view.
