The win pushed the Buccaneers’ record to 19-7 overall and 12-3 in conference play. Blinn remained in sole possession of second place in the Region XIV South Zone.
“This time of the year going on road and playing third-place team in the South and getting a win is big for our team,” Bucs head coach Scott Schumacher said. “We were focused, and our guys went down there and handled their business.”
Blinn took a 36-34 lead into halftime but found some offensive rhythm in the second half to pull away.
Sophomore guard Elijah Elliott paced Blinn with 18 points, and sophomore guards Marco Foster and Damian Watson tallied 17 apiece. Freshman guard Mariah Gilyard added eight points and freshman forward Kelvin Tamakloe finished with 10.
Up next, Blinn takes visits Lamar State College-Port Arthur for a conference bout at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
