The Blinn College varsity Overwatch team defeated the University of North Texas-Dallas 3-0 Monday night while the Buccaneer varsity Rocket League team dropped its match to the University of Texas-Dallas.
The Buccaneer Overwatch squad was comprised of Gabriel Lopez, William Rossley, George Francis, Khalil Johnson, Pierce Ray, Hayden Evans, and Ahmed Khalil. Competing for the Rocket League team were John Warden, Tanner James, and Ezekiel Sedgwick.
Blinn’s junior varsity Rocket League team of Diego Monacelli, Scott Miller, Lucas Grafe, and Joshua Whisenant also competed Monday and dropped a 3-0 decision to Chandler Gilbert Community College. The team is now 0-2 this season.
Blinn is a member of the National Association of College Esports, competing against two-year colleges and four-year universities, and is one of the few community colleges in the region that offers esports scholarships.
