The suspect has been apprehended. Brookshire PD served a warrant in Austin County with the assist of Wallis PD to apprehend Hillsman. Hillsman is now in jail awaiting trial.

A man is being sought in connection of abuse and subsequent death of a stolen horse. According to the Brookshire Police Department’s Facebook Page Treveon Marqués Hillsman is wanted for 4 outstanding warrants in connection to “Cruelty to Livestock”. Their Press Release Reads:
On the evening of January 6, 2020 at approximately 7:14 pm, the Brookshire Police Department received a call of animal cruelty involving a horse. Officers were informed by an eye-witness that they observed a B/M beating a horse with a lead rope and striking the horse with his fist in the face and mouth area while yelling obscenities at the horse.
Upon officer’s arrival, the suspect fled on foot. The horse was found to be stolen. Officers observed the missing horse to be extremely exhausted, dripping in sweat and shaking uncontrollably. The horse then fell shortly after and stopped breathing.
The suspect in connection to this horrific crime has 4 outstanding warrants for:

- Cruelty to Livestock (State Jail Felony)
- Theft of Livestock (3rd Degree Felony)
- Burglary of a Building (State Jail Felony
- Evading Arrest (Misdemeanor A)

Hillsman is described as a 21-year-old black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. The Brookshire Police Department is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact their office at (281) 375-5000.
