TYLER, Texas — The Blinn College women’s soccer team fell to No. 1 Tyler Junior College, 4-0, on the road Tuesday.
With the loss, the Buccaneers are now 2-2 overall and in conference play.
“We managed to compete with the reigning national champion, so we were pretty pleased,” head coach Michael McBride said. “We grew into the game and I was pleased with the way that we finished it. It was a great learning experience for us.”
Morgan Zachos and Jocelynn Lausell led the Buccaneers with two shots on goal apiece, while Hope Hillhouse led Blinn with four saves.
Tyler took a 3-0 lead in the first half after scoring in the second, fifth, and 36th minutes. The Apache Ladies extended their lead to 4-0 when they scored in the 70th minute.
Next, the Buccaneers will return home to take on Ranger College in a non-conference game on Saturday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at Rankin Field. The Blinn men’s team will open the doubleheader against Ranger at 5 p.m.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
