“She’s a great player and an even better person,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We’ve had so many great players, and a lot of great rebounders, but she’s definitely the best I’ve ever had. She was a major part of what we accomplished these past two seasons and she’s earned this award.”
Brown, a Texas State University commit from San Antonio, played an integral role in leading the Buccaneers to their second consecutive Region XIV regular-season championship (a title they shared with Trinity Valley Community College). Tullis was named to the NJCAA Division I Basketball All-America first-team, and was also selected first-team all-region and all-conference for a second time. She averaged a team-high 14.4 points while also leading the Bucs with 12.6 rebounds per game. Tullis was also named to the Region XIV all-tournament team.
For her career, Tullis finished as Blinn’s single-season and career rebounding leader, with 441 in 2022-23 and 767 across her two seasons.
Blinn finished its 2022-32 season with a 31-4 record, which included a 15-1 mark in Region XIV. The Buccaneers qualified for the NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship tournament with a bye in the first round and advanced to the quarterfinal round.
The Wilhelm Award is named after former Blinn College athletic director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the college for 10 years.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
