The Bellville Historical Society held their monthly meeting on December 18, 2022 at 5 pm. The guest speaker for the evening was Curt Locklear, an award-winning author, historian, musician, composer, and positive education consultant.
Mr. Locklear is the author of six books, including the Asunder Trilogy, which consists of “Asunder: A Novel of the Civil War,” “Splintered: A Civil War Saga,” and “Reconciled: A Civil War Saga.” He also has a historical fiction series, “Scrooge and Cratchit Detectives: The Dark Malevolence” and “Scrooge and Cratchit Detectives: A Dickensian Christmas Mystery.”
Mr. Locklear’s background is diverse, with a father who trained a racehorse in the Kentucky Derby, a mother who was a librarian, and a heritage that is both Southern and Northern. He is also related to the first wing-walker.
During the meeting, Mr. Locklear shared some great stories with the group, and even led them in some songs, particularly those for the holiday season. His presentation was sprinkled with jokes, intriguing stories, and banjo and guitar songs. The members of the Bellville Historical Society greatly enjoyed Mr. Locklear’s visit, and many left the meeting with a newfound appreciation for history and the holiday season.
