Following a period of relative mass shooting calm over the past few weeks, moments ago reports indicate that there is an active shooter situation unfolding at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas which is on Lockdown. According to News4SA, there are reports that two people were shot and they are dead. Moments ago the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed two people were indeed killed in what according to preliminary reports was a murder/suicide.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were clearing buildings at 9:15am.

According to News4 San Antonio, the initial calls made to police came in at around 8:45 a.m. local time, and law enforcement from both the San Antonio Police Department and the Post of San Antonio were responding.
Initial reports were unclear, but an officer said the shooting happened at an area known as the Medina Annex and someone may have been shot.

KFDN News out of Beaumont, Texas indicated moments ago that one person may have been shot. The Bexar Country Sheriff also took to Twitter immediately to comment, though did not offer any confirmation or details about the rapidly unfolding situation

Update 10:56 am:
Officers with the San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said two people were killed in what appeared to be a murder suicide at Lackland Air Force Base on Friday morning.
According BCSO spokesperson James Keith, the bodies of two people were found inside a building, known as 147, in the Medina Annex.
Officers were first called to the area at about 8:45am for reports of an active-shooter situation.
The base was placed on lockdown and people who were apparently on base at the time said they were taking classes when they were told they were under a lockdown.
As officers cleared the buildings, they found the bodies, but said they continued to clear other buildings. See previous updates below.
