Sealy hosted its annual Fantasy of Lights on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd. The event kicked off on Friday with the downtown tree lighting and a visit from Santa.

On Saturday, those who enjoy running competed in the Jingle Bell Fun Run. Runners could choose to run the 1K or the 5K. Participants were encouraged to embrace the season and dress in their finest Christmas running gear! Awards for the winners were presented at Levine Park.

Beginning at noon downtown turned into a fantasy as vendors threw open their doors to allow eager shoppers to find the perfect gift for friends and family. Those who enjoy the thrill of the hunt could join in the Hot Cocoa Scavenger Hunt. Participants collected clues for a chance to win one of many prizes.  For those who just wanted to stroll along and window shop there were picture perfect backgrounds scattered around to encourage shoppers to capture this magical day.

The kids were not forgotten as Levine Park was transformed into a mini circus with kiddie rides, bounce inflatables, kid friendly crafts and performances by circus acrobats. Hungry kids and parents could choose their favorite carnival goodies from the vendors and food trucks lining the streets. While the kids snacked on their goodies parents could search for the perfect gift as they perused the craft items local vendors had for sale.

Night time brought the main event that many look forward to each year:  Sealy’s 2023 Christmas Circus Fantasy of Lights Parade! The excitement could hardly be contained as children raced up and down the sidelines waiting for the parade to start. People began lining the parade route well before nightfall in an effort to be front and center for the dazzling display of lights and creativity. The parade began at 7pm with the color guard. After the color guard had passed by the procession of brightly lit vehicles began with sirens, horns and blinking lights. Mixed in with the floats were students from Sealy schools. The Tigers were well represented by the cheerleaders, band and drill team. The parade ended with the man of the season, Santa Claus himself! His jolly laugh could be heard as he wished everyone a Merry Christmas! The parade lasted for a mere hour but the excitement it generated will carry everyone through this holiday season.
