TYLER, Texas — Blinn College women’s basketball defeated Tyler Junior College, 70-58, on Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season on a five-game win streak.
“It was a great road win against a very good offensive team,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.
With the win, the Buccaneers increased their overall record to 15-15 and Region XIV conference record to 8-12.
Jade Rochelle and Kayla Konarik led Blinn’s offense with 15 points each, while Kyler Wyatt was next with 13 points and Missy Archie followed with 10 points for the win.
Although the Buccaneers trailed 21-13 at the end of the first quarter, they scored 19 points, while holding Tyler to nine points to lead 32-30 at the half.
Blinn and Tyler played a close third quarter, but the Buccaneers managed to hold onto a 49-44 advantage heading into the final stretch. The final quarter was the Buccaneers best offensively as they posted 21 points to pull ahead 70-58 for the victory.
Blinn will enter into the Region XIV Tournament with the No. 6 seed and face the No. 3 seed Kilgore on Wednesday, March 7 at 8 p.m. in Jacksonville.
