The Buccaneers fell 6-5 and 11-1 in an afternoon doubleheader and are now 0-3 overall.
In light of the rough start, McIntyre said he was inspired by how his young team grew during its first series of the season.
“Losing three on the weekend is tough,” McIntyre said. “The big picture is that I still thought we did a lot of things really, really well.”

Weatherford 11, Blinn 1 (7 innings)
In the series finale, the Buccaneers pushed across their lone run in the fifth inning and finished the ballgame with six hits.
Freshman Colten Drake started on the mound for Blinn and allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. He struck out two across three innings.
Freshman Ryan Young tossed two innings and allowed an earned run on two hits with one walk and one punchout. Freshman Matt Bundy was charged with five earned runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout in 1/3 innings. Sophomore Dave Wilson worked 2/3 scoreless innings, and freshman Garrett Brogdon allowed an earned run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout in 1/3 of an inning.
“It was just five or six plays that we didn’t make that compounded things for us,” McIntyre said of Saturday’s results. “Then we just got behind the eight-ball in the finale and never really recovered. You can really tell how young we are at times, but I think that’s why we need to keep playing, get the guys out on the field, and let them get better.”
The Buccaneers will play a doubleheader at Navarro College beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Blinn will play its home opener in twin bill action against Howard College starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, at Fireman’s Park in Brenham.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
