Austin County families are making great strides! As we wrap up the second week of Walk Across Texas, weโ€™re excited to share the incredible progress. Participants and their families have collectively logged an impressive 12,757 miles so far!

  • Brazos Elementary has 4,657 miles.
  • West End Elementary is in second with 3,955.
  • Oโ€™Bryant Intermediate is in third with 2451 miles.
  • Oโ€™Bryant Primary is sitting in fourth with 1,694 miles.

The top five performing classes at Brazos Elementary are:

  • Mrs. M. Miller (5th Grade) โ€“ 809 miles
  • Mrs. K. Miller (4th Grade) โ€“ 767 Miles
  • Mrs. Chupik (1st Grade), Mrs. Johnson (2nd Grade) โ€“ 335 miles
  • Mrs. Henderson (3rd Grade) โ€“ 320 miles

The top five performing classes at West End Elementary are:

  • Mrs. Guerro (3rd Grade) โ€“ 475 miles
  • Mrs. Beetner (3rd Grade) โ€“ 474 miles
  • Mrs. Shomburg (2nd Grade) โ€“ 449 miles
  • Mrs. Matthies (4th Grade) โ€“ 384 miles

  • Mrs. Greenville (5th Grade) – 485 miles
  • Mrs. Siptak (4th Grade) – 425 miles
  • Mrs. Coghlan (4th Grade) – 225 miles
  • Mrs. Paget (5th Grade), 194 miles

Walk Across Texas@ is an 8 week walking program promoted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M School for Rural Public Health. Locally, the fun and fitness program is being sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board of the Austin County Extension Service. Educational programs of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age or national origin. Teams are encouraged to have fun and enjoy the healthy benefits of walking. Walk Across Texas is designed primarily to help enhance a healthy lifestyle – the competition is primarily for fun!
