Bellville and Brazos are off and on the go! This year Brazos ISD has joined the ranks to participate in Walk Across Texas by having 6 adult teams on the south end of the county!! At the end of the 2nd week, several classes are walking full steam ahead in their quest to Walk Across Texas. To date, the participants and their families have walked 22,505 miles at the end of the 2nd week. Everyone is cruising right along!
O’Bryant Primary has 8,098 miles. West End Elementary is sitting with 6,226 miles. O’Bryant Intermediate is cruising right along with 5,093 miles. In Brazos, they are blazing trails with 3,093 miles.
Kindergarten results are: Mrs. Bridges – 198 miles; Mrs. McGlothen – 195 miles; and Mrs. Bettis – 186 miles. First grade results are: Mrs. Burnet – 747 miles; Mrs. Leuschner – 332 miles; and Mrs. Locke – 273 miles. Second grade results are: Mrs. Peschel – 447 miles; Mrs. Shackelford – 274 miles; and Mrs. Dorenbach – 224 miles. Third grade results are: Mrs. Springer– 586 miles; Mrs. Charpiot– 497 miles; and Mrs. Lewis –453 miles. Fourth grade results are: Mrs. Biehunko– 715 miles; Mrs. Adams – 702 miles; and Mrs. Siptak – 418 miles. Fifth grade results are: Mrs. Greenville – 573 miles; Mrs. Paget – 476 miles; and Mrs. Mahlmann – 410 miles. On the school front in West End, the results are: Mrs. Orduna (2nd Grade) – 984; Mrs. Wade (4th Grade) – 928 miles; Mrs. Blezinger (5th) –789 miles.
On the south end of the county, Brazos results stand as following: School of Walk – 838 miles; FreezR BurrN – 582 miles and pulling in third is Walking with Brazos – 525 miles. Keep it up everyone because you are looking good!!
Walk Across Texas@ is an 8 week walking program promoted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M School for Rural Public Health. Locally, the fun and fitness program is being sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board of the Austin County Extension Service. Educational programs of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age or national origin. Teams are encouraged to have fun and enjoy the healthy benefits of walking. Walk Across Texas is designed primarily to help enhance a healthy lifestyle ‑ the competition is primarily for fun!
