The Walk Across Texas program officially launched on Sunday, February 2nd, in collaboration with Brazos and Bellville Independent School Districts. This eight-week initiative, developed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, aims to improve fitness and mobility while promoting an active lifestyle among students, teachers, and families.

Participants are encouraged to engage in weekly movement challenges to foster healthy habits that can lead to long-term improvements in overall well-being. The program blends fun with fitness, making it an engaging and effective way to prioritize health.

How the Program Works
Walk Across Texas! is a free program designed to encourage participants to increase their physical activity by walking or engaging in other forms of exercise. The goal is for teams of up to eight people to collectively track their progress and complete the equivalent of walking across Texas—a total of 832 miles—within the eight-week timeframe.

Participants can join individually or as part of a team, with any physical activity that can be converted into miles, such as cycling, swimming, or aerobics, counting toward their goal. Progress is logged through the official Walk Across Texas! website.

Who Can Participate?
The program is open to individuals, families, workplaces, schools, and community groups. Schools can take part through Walk Across Texas! Youth, a version of the initiative specifically designed for children.
