As public, private and homeschools throughout Texas gear up for the new school year, the Texas Farm Bureau offers an exciting educational experience with its innovative “Ag in the Classroom” programs. These initiatives are designed to integrate agricultural education into K-12 curricula, emphasizing the vital role of agriculture in everyday life.

Central to the program’s educational outreach is the Farm From School program, now entering its fourth semester this fall. This initiative offers students virtual visits to farms and ranches across Texas, providing them with direct interactions and learning opportunities from agricultural professionals. By offering practical experiences, the program not only meets Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards but also enhances students’ understanding of agricultural concepts.

To help teachers and parents easily integrate Farm From School into the curriculum, comprehensive resources for educators and parents, including lesson plans, videos, and activity books are made available at no cost. These materials are crafted to seamlessly weave agricultural themes across various subjects, promoting a holistic approach to learning.

Texas Farm Bureau is committed to advancing agricultural education to cultivate students’ appreciation of the pivotal role of agriculture in society and the economy. As these programs expand, they serve as a model for educational initiatives across Texas and beyond, setting new standards for integrating agricultural education into school curricula.

Classes are able to virtually meet with different farmers and ranchers during the fall semester. This fall’s topics include: Turf grass (September), Haired/meat sheep (October), Longhorns (November) and Poinsettias (December). Additional program details can be found in their guidelines document
