The 11th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team has earned six Region XIV awards following an outstanding regular season.
The Buccaneers are 34-5 overall and awaiting a potential at-large bid for the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship tournament. The tournament bracket will be announced Thursday.
Blinn’s strong campaign has been fueled by a myriad of talented freshmen and sophomores. Making the All-Region XIV first team were freshman right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik and sophomore middle blocker Brooke Pattschull. Second-team selections were freshman liberos Cierra Pesak and Kirby Kliafas.
Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Glendening and sophomore hitter/blocker Don’Yah Cosie were named honorable mentions.
Dorotik was also named the co-Region XIV Player of the Year following a debut season in which she led Blinn and ranked sixth in NJCAA Division I with 489 kills. She also recorded 161 digs, 68 block assists, and nine solo blocks. Dorotik also made the Region XIV Tournament all-tournament team.
In her lone season as a Buccaneer, Pattschull has tallied 250 kills, 97 block assists, and 31 solo blocks.
Pesak made her mark with 572 digs in her collegiate debut, leading the Buccaneers and ranking 15th in NJCAA Division I. Kliafas notched 268 digs.
Glendening has posted 205 kills this fall with a team-high 45 service aces. She also had 68 block assists and 15 solo blocks. Cosie’s second Blinn season has seen her record 86 kills, 36 block assists, and 12 solo blocks.
