The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and OneOp will offer the “Learning to Balance Your Mental Health to Better Serve Others” webinar from 10-11 a.m. on Sept. 27.
Formerly the Military Families Learning Network, OneOp is a virtual professional development platform for providers who serve military families.
The webinar is free, and participants can register at https://tx.ag/OneOpBalanceMentalHealth. Once registered, participants will receive an email with instructions and a link to the event. Those who cannot use the link may view the event live on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/c/OneOp/live.

Featured speaker and learning topics
The featured speaker is Tara Fox, Ph.D., assistant professor, program coordinator, graduate coordinator in the Clinical Medical Health graduate program, Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls. Fox is a licensed professional counselor supervisor for the state of Texas.
The webinar will explore and reflect on what it can look like for mental health professionals and other family support providers to take care of themselves while working with service members and military families.
The learning objectives will include:
- Discussing why mental health professionals need boundaries to be effective.
- Considering the importance of self-awareness as a mental health professional.
- Reviewing the importance of using coping skills to manage feelings of stress.
- Identifying the difference between burnout, compassion fatigue and secondhand depression.
