The City of Sealy has put out a notice to the public that BNSF Railroad will resume sounding their horns at crossings. This was due to a recent Railway Safety Inspection that showed that Sealy’s Quiet Zone was not in compliance with the required distance between the crossing arm and street.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony honoring the life of Peggy Spradley was held on April 3, 2022 at the Sealy American Legion Hall. Peggy was a dedicated member of the Austin County Community whose tireless work in the Sealy Chamber of Commerce and the Sealy American Legion Post 442 was an inspiration for all and her presence will be greatly missed.
The Charter Committee gave their presentation to the Sealy City Council on the Amendments to the city’s charter. SH 36 north and south bound traffic will be closed beneath the IH-10 SH 36 Overpass the night of February 28th to allow for the demolition of the existing overpass. A detour will be implemented Monday night beginning at approximately 7:00 PM and will be in effect until Tuesday morning ending at approximately 5:00 AM.
