Sealybration 2015 happened this weekend. Plenty of food, fun, rides and music! This years headliner was Earl Thomas Conley who took the stage Saturday night at 9:45 and was followed by up and coming Jody Booth. Both acts were a great success as there were plenty of people dancing and enjoying the music.
The VIP area was the place to be with decorations, cooling fans to catch a break from the heat, a BBQ Dinner and front row seating for the headliners show and all performances during the day. The VIP area was being run by the Sealy Main Street Program and had beer available from Bellville’s Huff Brewing Company and wine from the Yellow Brick Road Winery.
This years softball tournament was well attended with over 80 teams taking part this year with every team walking through the Sealybration gate at some point during the weekend. Due to the large number of teams, there was play on 4 different softball complexes between Sealy and Wallis. New this year was the helicopter rides being provided by National Helicopter Solutions out of Sugar Land. For $25 you could take a 3 minute ride and get an aerial view of Sealybration and the Sealy Area at large.
The Sealybration is an event sponsored by the Sealy Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that serves as a voice for non-profits. The whole point of Sealybration is to help raise money for other non-profits that volunteer to help put on the festival. The scholarships program is also a big part, with a total of $48,000 having been given away in the last 5 years.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Angela Schmidt, the Sealy Community Foundations Advertising person, who was gracious enough to sit down with us and explain all that Sealybration 2015 had to offer:
