The Sealy varsity baseball team faced off against Needville in a home conference game on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the game didn’t go in Sealy’s favor, as they lost to Needville by a score of 9-4.

Although we have no statistics for Needville, it’s clear that they came out strong, taking the lead early on in the game. In the bottom of the 1st inning, the score was 1-0 in favor of Needville, and they continued to hold onto their lead throughout the game.

Sealy tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they finally scored a run, making the score 5-1 in favor of Needville. However, Needville continued to play aggressively, scoring multiple runs in the top of the 4th inning, bringing the score to 8-1.

Sealy made a valiant effort in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring three runs and bringing the score to 8-4, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to catch up to Needville’s lead. Needville scored one more run in the top of the 6th inning, bringing the final score to 9-4 in their favor.

Despite the loss, several Sealy players had notable performances during the game. #14 Haden Wernecke had a hit and scored two runs, ultimately being named player of the game. #5 Ethan Doyle also had a hit, while #21 Parker DeBerry and #22 Demarques Thompson both had four plate appearances.

Overall, Sealy has had a successful season so far, with a record of 12-4-1. They’ve won two out of three league games and two out of three non-league games, and have performed well both at home and away. While the loss to Needville may have been disappointing, Sealy can still hold their heads high and look forward to their upcoming games.
