Austin County News Online previously reported on a robbery that took place around 8:40 PM on January 3, 2024, at the Big 99 Cents & Gift Store, located at 218 Fowlkes Street in Sealy. According to a Sealy Police Department press release, they were searching for three persons of interest. Austin County Crime Stoppers also offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the three men. These suspects were described as Black males, aged late teens to mid-20s, who appeared to have been monitoring the store for some time before carrying out the robbery. Today, after months of investigation, the Sealy Police Department announced via Facebook that one of the suspects has been arrested.
Following an extensive investigation by the Sealy Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, an arrest warrant was issued for Kevin Frear of Navasota, Texas. Frear, who is currently held in the Grimes County Sheriff’s Department Jail on unrelated charges, was formally charged with robbery.
