There was a surprise dropped at the end of the Sealy City Council’s Zoom meeting Tuesday night. Mayor Janice Whitehead told the council she would be tendering her resignation.
“I am going to tender my resignation as mayor,” Whitehead said. “As of Sept. 16, I will no longer be residing in the city limits. However, I will stay on as a holdover mayor until another mayor is elected to the position.”
