Yesterday, in downtown Sealy it officially became the Christmas Season with the Sealy Main Street Program’s first annual “Jingle Mingle”. At the same time, the First United Methodist Church of Sealy held their “Vender Blender”, a fundraiser benefiting the First UMC Christmas Angels. The Vender Blender was the first to start by beginning at noon and running until 8pm. The Vender Blender gives local citizens the opportunity to shop and support independent, local makers. There were all kinds of things available for purchase, from wine to tamales to arts and crafts.
At six o’clock the Sealy Main Street Program began their “Jingle Mingle” which ran concurrently with the Vender Blender. The Jingle Mingle is an opportunity for the citizens of Austin County to come to Sealy Main Street, meet your fellow neighbors, and help take part in the beginnings of the holiday season. Santa Clause was there passing out candy canes for the kids as well as hot chocolate for all. For the adults, there was wine available giving them the chance to enjoy a glass, relax, socialize and enjoy the evening. The Christmas Tree in downtown Sealy was also officially lit at 6:30. At 6:45, there were performances by soloist Alyssa Hale who performed “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and Justin Biebers song “Mistletoe” and the Sealy Junior High Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Kristin Howard, was also on hand to perform “Angels We Have Heard On High”, “Festival of Lights”, and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”.
The event lasted until 8pm and is going to be an annual event in the Sealy Downtown Main Street area. So, if you didn’t make it this year, be sure to mark your calendar for next year. Below are the performances of Alyssa Hale and the Sealy Junior High Choir.
