The Tiger Stage Company members from Sealy High School displayed their remarkable talent at the Texas Thespians State Festival held from November 15-18, 2024. This prestigious event, one of the largest of its kind in Texas, brought together high school theater students from across the state to compete in various categories, including Solo Monologue and Solo Musical. Four Sealy students earned top honors and secured a spot to compete at the National Thespian Festival, proudly representing Troupe 1396.

Kaden Crawley earned a spot as a National Thespian Qualifier in the Solo Monologue category. To win this distinction, Kaden demonstrated exceptional acting skills, with a performance that showcased deep character understanding, emotional range, and strong stage presence, impressing the judging panel with his ability to bring the monologue to life. Jony Hernandez, also earning a National Qualifier spot, competed in the Solo Musical category. To stand out in this highly competitive event, Jony needed to display not only vocal technique, but also the ability to connect emotionally with the song’s lyrics and character. A strong vocal range, musicality, and stage presence helped him secure a place at the national level.

Isabella Merryman also qualified for nationals in the Solo Monologue category, where her performance was evaluated on the same criteria as Kaden’s. Isabella’s ability to portray a compelling character with authenticity and emotional depth, combined with her commanding stage presence, earned her a spot among the best in Texas. Lastly, Charles Arriaga earned National Thespian Qualifier status in the Solo Monologue category. Like his peers, Charles impressed judges with his acting abilities, strong character portrayal, and emotional delivery, ensuring his place at the National Thespian Festival. These four students’ achievements reflect not only their passion for theater but also their dedication to perfecting their craft.
