The Sealy City Council held a special meeting to discuss the details of the Sealy Fantasy of Lights and how to, if at all, proceed safely with the event in light of the factors concerning the COVID-19 Virus.  Members from the Sealy Community Foundation were present at the meeting along with Austin County Judge, Tim Lapham, in order to give their insights into the matter.  There were still some things that were needed to work out but, the changes that were put in place during the city council meeting from the discussion were:

  1. Eliminate the stage and bleachers that are placed in front of the stage at the event.
  2. Measure spots along the parade route to allow for social distancing
  3. Eliminate the tree lighting event in the park
  4. Multiple announcements were to be made on social media and while the event is occurring to remind people to maintain social distancing and wear masks
  5. Float entrants are not allowed to hand out or throw items from their floats
  6. State health and human services announcements and guidelines must be posted around the event for people to read
  7. Masks and hand sanitizer must be made available during the event
  8. Change the route of the parade to go down Atchison St. and Main St. in Sealy
  9. Eliminate the BBQ Cookoff event
  10. Spread out the vendors as much as possible
