The candidates for Sealy City Council met again yesterday for the second time. This time the event was at the Sealy American Legion Hall on Meyer Street. The event was hosted by the Sealy Chamber of Commerce and began at 7 pm. This was a forum and not a debate. The candidates received a total of 5 questions ahead of time to look over to prepare their answers. Larry Kuciemba was the master of ceremonies and was the time keeper as well. Each candidate was given 3 minutes to answer their respective question. The only candidate that was absent was Janice Whitehead who was unable to make the event due to a family emergency with her mother. (Please keep her her and the family in your prayers.) Each candidate was given time to make their introductory remarks (00:04:10 – 00:21:17 of the video)
The questions the candidate received were as follows:
- What is the most important infrastructure concern that you have and why? (00:21:41 – 00:30:57 of the video)
- Would you vote your conscience over the will of your constituents? (00:30:57 – 00:41:48 of the video)
- The city will be interviewing for a new city manager. What qualities would you be looking for in a person to fill this position? (00:41:48 – 00:52:29 of the video)
The candidates and the audience then took a 10 minute break to stretch and grab some refreshments and then the forum continued with the final 3 questions.
- In your opinion, what would you like to see the city STOP doing and what would you like to see the city START doing? (00:52:29 – 01:08:03 of the video)
- What areas would you like to see the city invest more money into? (01:08:03 – 01:22:14 of the video)
The candidates were then allowed to give their final thoughts and closing statements (01:22:14 – 01:35:54 of the video)
