Prasek’s Hillje Smokehouse is going to be a reality in Sealy. Last week the Sealy City Council signed the final agreement with them in what has been a little over a year process. Now that everything is in place construction should begin very soon. One of the holdups, besides the legal with the City of Sealy, was the additional power that was needed to be run to the site for not only Prasek’s to be built but, also for the additional expansions that are also planned within the Prasek’s center. The Sealy Prasek’s is to be built across from the Valero along Interstate 10.
The original Prasek’s in El Campo, Texas has the following amenities listed on their website: bakery, specialty meat market, restaurant, convenience store, gift shop, and ice cream parlor. And, with 4 ½ out of 5 stars on YELP, they must be doing something right. The understanding is that the Prasek’s to be built in the Sealy area is to have pretty much the same things.
Duane Korenek was at the meeting to give his thanks and his excitement that marks the start of the family business in the Austin County Area. “We just, on behalf of the Prasek Family and Prasek’s Family Smokehouse, want to thank the city for everything that you guys have done for us and we’re super excited to get started.” No word yet on when the actual construction will begin, some of it might have to wait until CenterPoint has done the upgrades on the power lines that will service that area.
Below is video of a few of the steps that had to be taken with Prasek’s, from the planning meeting to the two separate times recently that it had to be discussed at city council.
