LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas- The Blinn College Buccaneers blew past the Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes, 56-33, for their fifth win of the season on Saturday in Little Rock.

Blinn and Arkansas Baptist were even 21-21 at the half until the Buccaneers outscored the Buffaloes 35-12 in the second half to claim the victory.

“We dug ourselves into a hole offensively pretty quick, then we finally settled in and started playing Blinn Buccaneer football,” said Ryan Mahon, Blinn head coach. “We had one of our best weeks of practice so for them to come back and put a decent product out there made me proud.”

Mike Garrett Jr. and Kirsten Williams led the defense after Garrett caught two interceptions and Williams forced two fumbles and tallied four sacks. Mike Gayden and Cullen Wick each jumped in with one sack each.

Devin Williams and Sicory Smith led the offense with four touchdowns. Williams threw four passing touchdowns, while Smith scored on three receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Carlos Grace and Robert Franklin rushed for one touchdown each, while Braden Hucks caught one touchdown.

The Buccaneers and Buffaloes played an even first quarter after each scoring seven points in the first quarter and 14 points in the second quarter for a tied score at the half. In the third quarter, the Buccaneers outscored the Buffaloes 21-6 to pull ahead 42-27. The Buccaneers continued to dominate in the fourth quarter after outscoring the Buffaloes 14-6 for a 56-33 victory.

The Buccaneers increased their record to 5-1 overall, and will resume conference play against New Mexico Military Institute on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. on the road.
